The fifth amendment states that the police can not arrest you or send you to jail unless there is an actual reason to do so. There must be enough evidence that the person arrested or soon to be arrested did the crime. The police had arrested and interrogated Ernesto Miranda without actually reading his rights (for example the right to no self incrimination, 5th Amendment, and the right to legal counsel, 6th Amendment) which was their responsibility to do so. Miranda still not knowing his rights ended up being forced in to confession just so the police had enough evidence to convict him. The action of the police forgetting their responsibilities had violated his 5th and 6th amendment rights.
